Dear Dr. Gerstein,

- Indicate the changes needed (via email, Acrobat PDF notes, faxed markups, etc.), and I will make them in the files that I have readied for print specifications. (Please DO NOT make changes yourself to your originals and resend them.)
- If you receive reviewer comments on your manuscript requesting figure revisions or additions that have not been made here, please contact me before proceeding.
- Suggested edits to the figure captions necessitated by my changes to the figures are in the attached Word file for you to review. Please add any changes you have; 'track changes' is locked on to allow our changes to be visible and distinguishable. Return the file to me and I'll forward it on to the production editor. 

Review the figures carefully and please compare them against your originals; in some cases text has been retyped and elements may have been redrawn and/or added. Unless you request extensive changes, this will be the only round you see before the proofs.

Please send me your comments and changes on the figures *no later than Friday, January 19 .*

**REMINDER: Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish (in print and online) any copyrighted or previously published figures. Redrawn or modified figures still require permission for reuse. Annual Reviews generally makes changes to figures to meet house style requirements; therefore permission to modify figures should be obtained. The source of the material should be appropriately credited at the end of each figure caption, even if no permission is necessary (for example, an image under a creative commons license).
